| This Tutorial will show you how to create a simple patched
text and add two colors simultaneously. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 1.) Open Photoshop
and create a new file. Go to File > New. Make it
450 X 150 pixels on a white background at 72 dpi then hit OK. |
| |
| 2.) In the Layers palette, click on the
New Layer icon (located next to trash can) and turn off "eye"
icon to background layer. Now, select white for the Foreground
color. |
| |
| 3.) Select the Text tool and
type your first letter. (I used Arial Black 100pt smooth.) Click once
again on the New Layer icon and type your next letter. (Repeat
this procedure until all the letters have been completed.) Then use the
Move tool to arrange text composition by clicking each layer and
dragging text. |
| |
|
|
| |
| Be sure to arrange text so that there is overlapping occuring.
(Not a pretty sight at this stage.) |
| |
| The Layers palette should look similar to this: |
| |
|
|
| |
| 4.) Next, click the arrow (top right in Layers
palette) to activate the pop-up menu. Select Blending Options... and
change Blend Mode to Difference. |
| |
|
|
|
| With the Blending palette still up, Click the New Style
button, (when the dialog box appears...hit OK). Then, hit OK
to apply effects and close the Blending palette. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 5.) Go to the Styles palette and find the
New Style. (It will be the last one there.) If the Styles
palette is not visible, go to Window > Styles. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 6.) Now, select another text layer and click the
New Style to apply the effect. Repeat until all text layers are
completed. |
| |
| Image should now have black where text was overlapped. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 7.) On to the magic part...Click the Background
layer and you will notice that the colors have become reversed. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 8.) Select a new color for the Foreground
color and use (Alt + Backspace) to fill. Two colors will
be applied at once! Experiment with different Foreground colors. |
| |
|
|
| |
| Bonus Tip: For
more fun, repeat step 8 on all the text layers as well. |
